Who is Elise Yousoufian?

  • Passionate about language, Global Communication Matters founder Elise Yousoufian speaks English and French  fluently; reads and speaks Spanish with ease; and has basic knowledge of a few other languages. This passion, born of exposure to four languages at a young age, led Elise to study literature and language in college and edit her first major project as an undergraduate. This passion also enabled her to help others express themselves more clearly and reach their audiences more effectively.
  • Elise has written or edited work in several international development sectors (education, governance, health), and published in online and print publications (The New York Times and others). She has also helped adults and children improve their English skills and write what they mean so readers will understand them.
  • Elise holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Cornell University and a master of arts degree in international training and education from American University.  She lives and works in Bethesda, Maryland.
  • Common European Framework of Reference for Languages: Level C1.2 in French and level C.1 in Spanish.
